What is coaching?
It's a powerful partnership between a coach and a client. You, as the client, choose the areas you want to be coached in - and your coach encourages, challenges, and works alongside you, to help you achieve the results you want.
How does coaching work?
Coaching gives you a support structure to help you achieve your goals. Most of us know, at some level, how to achieve what we want in life. But knowing how isn’t always enough to guarantee that we will get the results we want. What does make a difference is planning and taking action – and most importantly having someone you are answerable to. That's where a coach comes in.
Having a coach is like having your own personal mentor, manager, personal trainer and sports coach, all rolled into one. A coach gives you unbiased feedback and will help you to increase your self-awareness and encourages you to take responsibility for your life.
How does coaching differ from counseling?
Coaching is about setting goals for the future and is a forward-moving process. A coach works with you to improve your present situation so you can create new possibilities for the future. Counseling, on the other hand, usually deals with past issues and events, or helps you cope with a crisis.
What happens in a coaching session?
During the first consultation you will identify and set initial goals in the most important areas of your life. Then, together with your coach, you develop the overall plan for each goal. Each session, you set specific action steps to move you towards your goal. A coaching series is generally for twelve weeks, for one hour per week, although the series can be tailored to your specific requirements.
